Community calls for funding into mental health services in wake of tragic death of Halifax schoolgirl Ursula Keogh

An inquest at Bradford Coroners Court was concluded on Thursday into the death of 11-year-old Ursula Keogh

READ IN FULL: Verdict reached into death of 'bright and sensitive' Halifax schoolgirl Ursula KeoghCoroner Martin Fleming highlighted that greater communication is needed between schools and GPs to help pupils.

He also requesting what safety measures can be put into place at a bridge in Halifax following the death of the Lightcliffe Academy pupil.

Zoe Chadwick: "It's not the bridge, there needs to be more help and support available to young and older generation. More mental health services to younger should be available. Schools' youth clubs could do awareness talks in and out of school.... Such a shame."

Kelly Sirmond commented "Measures need to be put in place to stop people getting to point where they feel that suicide is their only option. The lack of mental health provision for children is totally unacceptable, this needs addressing immediately."

Louisa Settle said: "What might help is looking at why people particularly young people are feeling so utterly desperate and wretched that they do this. Safety measures won’t cure their inner turmoil will it? More mental health service access is desperately needed."
