Community Foundation for Calderdale up for prestigious charity award

The Community Foundation for Calderdale has been shortlisted for a prestigious charity award after raising and distributing more than £20m over the past 25 years in Calderdale, including £3m after the devastating Boxing Day floods.

The foundation is up for Fundraising Team of the Year in the Charity Times Awards.

Steve Duncan, CEO of the foundation said: “We are honoured to have been nominated for the award in recognition of the work we have under taken over the past 25 years, everything we do at the foundation is because we are passionate about Calderdale and the people who live here, so to be nominated for such a prestigious award for doing what we love is fantastic.

“We believe in thinking differently, we want to eradicate inequality and provide fairer life chances to everyone in Calderdale, irrespective of race, gender, financial position or disability.

“We do this by annually conducting in-depth research across ten core themes. We identify areas of concern and prioritise them for funding. We work with our individual donors and business supporters to fund meaningful, sustainable and vital change across Calderdale.

“We identify and support charitable organisations that can make a real and lasting difference in challenge the status quo across all 17 Wards in Calderdale.

“We shine a light on difficult and at times devastating areas of inequality and act as a catalyst for change, it’s what drive my committed team to keep going stay dedicated and to make a difference with the work they all do, I am proud to say they are my team, they deserve the nomination.”

The Charity Times Awards is the leading celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector.

Now in its 17th year, the awards are run by Charity Times Magazine.

This year’s winners will be announced at the Charity Times Awards gala dinner and ceremony on September 28 at the Park Plaza, London.

The event was attended by more than 600 guests in 2015 and it’s hoped this year will be bigger and better.
