The Band of the Yorkshire regiment will perform for two hours in the flood-hit town of Hebden Bridge this afternoon.

Soldiers from the regiment were among troops deployed to the area to help householders and businesses with warnings, sandbagging and clear up duties when Storm Eva struck last month.

Captain Gary Clegg, the band’s director of music said: “We wanted to put a smile on people’s faces during what has been a difficult time for the area.

“We are hoping that people will come along to listen, enjoy our music and support the local community.”

During the performance, there will be a collection to support the Calder Valley flood relief appeal.

The concert takes place from 1pm until 3pm in St George’s Square, Hebden Bridge.
