Members of the Filipino community in Calderdale rallied to host a fund-raiser to help those affected by Super Typhoon Pablo last year.
The Fil-United UK hosted a Valentine charity concert at the Lee Mount Social Club in Halifax and raised £550 for the cause. The typhoon claimed thousands of lives when it struck the Philippines in December 2012 and left many more homeless. About 165 people attended and were entertained by four different performers. Darwin Ursal, one of the organisers, thanked the support of Calderdale businesses including Dominos Pizza, Halifax and Brighouse, Auto Parts Direct, Singkee Oriental supermarket in Bradford, Harvey’s of Halifax and Stump Cross Inn.
