Police are appealing for information to trace the whereabouts of a Bradford man who was convicted of sex offences.
George Doulat, 56, of Pasture Crescent, Filey, was tried in his absence at Bradford Crown Court this week on charges of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman in Bradford in April last year.
He was convicted on all counts and sentenced to 10 years in custody. The court issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to attend for his trial.
Doulat is white, with a dark complexion, slim, about 5ft 9ins tall, with black, wavy hair and has no teeth. He has tattoos of a panther’s head and a rose with ‘George’ on his left arm and tattoos of a swallow, two hearts and a rose on his right arm.
He is from Bradford and has various links to the area but had been living in Filey recently.
Anyone who sees him should not approach him but should contact the police immediately on 999.
Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police via the 101 non-emergency number,
Detective Inspector Joanne Morgan, of Operation Topaz, West Yorkshire Police’s dedicated rape investigation unit, said: “The sentence Doulat has received today reflects the seriousness with which both the police and courts view such offences. It is vitally important now that we find him so he can be made to face the consequences of his actions.
“We would urge anyone who sees him or who knows where he is to let us know immediately. Anyone who is assisting him should appreciate that they will also face arrest and prosecution.
“These offences saw Doulat take advantage of a distressing situation for the victim to force himself upon her. We would like to praise the victim and her family for having the courage to come forward to give evidence against him.
“Crimes of this nature are always investigated with the utmost sensitivity and victims can be confident in coming forward to report them to the police.”
