Council budget: Public, staff and firms will say their piece

THE council has begun a four-week consultation process on its spending plans.

Talks with staff will take place at 2pm tomorrow at the Wainwright Hall, Elland, and on Friday at 10.30am at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax.

On Friday at 8am there will a breakfast meeting for business leaders.

Public meetings will be held at 2pm on Monday at St Paul's Church, Sowerby Bridge, and at 6pm on Tuesday at North Bridge Leisure Centre, Halifax.

"We will be collecting, collating and analysing responses to inform our final proposals," said the council's Liberal Democrat leader Janet Battye.

The outcome will be discussed at a special cabinet meeting on Monday, February 14, at 4pm, before going forward to the council's annual budget meeting on Monday, February 28.
