Council consulting on whether to remove parking permits in Todmorden

Calderdale Council could be about to make a U-turn over the introduction of parking permits on residential streets in Todmorden

Last August, the council’s cabinet approved proposals to charge residents £25 a year to park on certain streets in the town. This came into effect in November.

But the council has now announced it will consult with all affected Todmorden residents to ask whether they think the permits should stay or be removed.

Residents started a petition last year against the introduction of parking permits.

The council has posted a questionnaire to all residents whose properties lie within the zone covered by the petition.

At least 50 per cent of people need to respond in order for removal of the permits to be considered.

The deadline for returning the forms is Wednesday, April 10.

The council expects to let residents know its decision on Friday, April 26.
