Countdown begins for town’s panto

It was lights, camera, panto on Sunday as auditions for the junior chorus of this year’s Halifax pantomime kicked off.

Crowds of young singers, dancers and actors descended on the Victoria Theatre in the hope of securing a place in Jack and the Beanstalk. With bounds of energy, all were prepared to put their best foot forward and show the pantomime producers what they could do.

After an anxious wait, the 105 auditionees were whittled down to the final two teams - Baked Beans and Runner Beans - who will now perform in the pantomime. Sarah Boden from Imagine Theatre, producers of the pantomime, said: “We were delighted by the high standard of all the children who auditioned for us and it was really hard to whittle it down to just twenty children. We taught a routine to all of the children which they then performed.’’

The talented youngsters will star alongside Halifax’s favourite comic, Neil Hurst, who will return to the theatre as Simple Simon. Tickets are already on sale for Jack and the Beanstalk - don’t miss the opportunity to catch the action.

The show will run from Saturday December 13, 2014 to Sunday January 4, 2015.
