Creating urban food plots

Incredible Edible Brighouse volunteers have been working alongside staff from Arco, Calderdale's Safer Cleaner Greener Teams and their Apprentice Group to transform green space in the town.

The aim of the project is to transform spaces into an urban food-growing landscape, based on collaboration, where anyone who wants to has the opportunity, space and support to grow and harvest fresh fruit and vegetables.

One of these areas to create a vibrant, diverse food culture to create healthy communities is in Vale Street.

Incredible Edible Brighouse aim to empower the community to retain and reuse green spaces by turning unloved spaces into beautiful, practical areas by growing herbs, fruit and vegetables ties in with Calderdale Council’s Green Spaces Strategy to achieve ‘high quality green spaces across Calderdale including spaces that are nationally recognised for their quality and attractions’.
