Crews called to Halifax house fire

Teams from Halifax Fire Station were called to a house fire this morning.

The crews went to Gibraltar Road, off Hopwood Lane, at 11.56am to reports of a fire in a bedroom.

Two people - aged 57 and 61 - were out of the house by the time firefighters arrived.

Minor damage was caused. The cause of the fire in under investigation.

The house was fitted with smoke alarms but one was not working. Three new detectors have been fitted by fire crews.
