Police are appealing for witnesses after a possible robbery in Halifax in the early hours of Saturday 14 December.

The incident happened near to the junction of Margaret Street and Hopwood Lane between 1.30am and 1.50am and officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in contact.

DC Rebecca Lawrence of Calderdale CID, said: “A man claims he left a restaurant in the town centre (he can’t remember which one, other than he remembers it being well lit) but that the next thing he remembers was being with police.

“He had suffered minor injuries and his mobile phone was missing but he remembers nothing of what happened.

“A member of the public was walking up Hopwood Lane in the direction of Margaret Street when they saw four males in the area. The person then turned onto Margaret Street and heard some noises coming from the direction of Hopwood Lane and went back in that direction and found the man on the floor.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed anything around this time in this area to get in contact so we can establish what has happened. The four males the member of the public saw are described as Asian.”

Anyone with information should call Calderdale CID on 101.
