Appeal for witnesses following Dewsbury robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at the junction of Bradbury Street and Lee Road, Dewsbury on Thursday, January 8, between 1:30pm and 2pm.

The male victim was walking along the street, close to a park and playing fields, when he was grabbed by the arm and dragged into a nearby ginnel. The suspect demanded his money and phone but the victim refused and was then punched and dragged to the ground. The suspect continued to assault him and took a small amount of money from the victim’s pocket. The victim managed to get up and run away over open fields and was chased by the suspect for a short distance.

The suspect is a white male, aged in his 30’s, 5ft 9 in tall and of slim build. He was wearing a white hoody with blue jeans and his face was covered by the hood.

Detective Constable Andy Clayton, of Kirklees CID, said: “This attack happened in broad daylight and left the victim very shaken and distressed.
