A masked man armed with a knife robbed a convenience store in Bradford last night.

The man demanded cash from staff inside the shop on Highfield Road in Idle at around 7pm.

The suspect is described as white, in his late 30s to early 40s, of average build and spoke with a local accent. He wore a black hat and dark clothes with white trainers.

Detective Inspector Stuart Lyons of Airedale and North Bradford CID said: “This is clearly a concerning incident, particularly as the suspect was prepared to use a knife to make his demands.

“Thankfully none of the staff on duty were harmed, however; it would undoubtedly been a upsetting experience.

“I would urge anyone who has seen this man in the local area either prior to or following the offence to get in touch as it could assist in our investigations and help in piecing together his movements.

“CCTV inquiries are currently ongoing and from out initial work, we believe the suspect may have approached the store from the Bradford Road area.

“I would ask that any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information as to the person responsible to contact Airedale and North Bradford CID on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.”
