West Yorkshire Police are warning of the dangers of two drugs previously known as legal highs but now set to be banned.
The Government has announced it has accepted advice that New Synthetic Cannabinoids - such as those sold under the name of Black Mamba and Methoxetamine, also sold as Mexxy, should become Class B drugs.
Bryan Dent, West Yorkshire Police’s drugs co-ordinator, said: “With this announcement, the Government accepts the facts that these type of substances, known collectively as new psychoactive substances, are harmful to people.
“When people, often young and vulnerable, take these substances they are taking serious risks with their lives.
“Often no one is really sure what is contained in those substances and equally important what the effects including long term effects the substances will have.”
