PC C J Newsome - Wildlife Crime Officer and Ward PC for Kirkburton/Denby Dale - said she was 'saddened to report' the horrific crime, which is believed to have taken place on Saturday.

The bird was found in Brighouse city centre on Saturday, PC Newsome said.

An X-Ray confirmed the bird had been shot dead.

Police have now launched an investigation.
