Calderldale police warning over snapped lock house burglaries in the borough

Police in Calderdale are urging people to check their house security following a spate of house burglaries.

The warning comes as recent incidents have involved raiders snapping locks to gain entry into properties.

A spokesperson for the force said: "In the last few days we have had a few burglaries whereby the offender has snapped the lock to get in.

"Please, please, please check. If you have euro-cylinder locks they should be to a minimum three star standard.

"Approximately 80 per cent of homes in Calderdale do not have three star locks fitted.

"If you are unsure our crime prevention officers can come out and check.

"You can either ring 101 for a visit or email [email protected]

"Please also check family members who may not be on social media."
