Cells full as police tackle bad behaviour

Over 20 people were locked up overnight from across Calderdale as police stamped out anti-social behaviour.

Around half of the arrests were in Halifax town centre.

“The police are out on the streets doing their job and through positive policing we have numerous arrests,” said Insp Lee Harnell.

“The cells were full last night and the town centre is a safer place for us cathching those people that are offending.”

Insp Harnell said officers would encourage anybody to enjoy a night out providing they acted responsibly, otherwise they were likely to come to the attention of the police.
