A PIONEERING website that has let Calderdale residents view crime figures in their area for the last five years has been introduced across the UK.
People anywhere in England will now be able to see crime and anti-social behaviour figures on www.police.uk.
Very much like West Yorkshire’s Police Authority’s www.beatcrime.info site, people are able to type in a postcode and see what crime has happened in an area and how to contact their neighbourhood policing team.
An interactive map also gives details about Partner and Community Together meetings.
Chairman of West Yorkshire Police Authority Mark Burns Williamson said: “We have been providing local communities with detailed crime stats for the past five years or so through our pioneering website www.beatcrime.info and its great to see that this has been adopted on a national level.
“The Police Authority, working closely with the force, took a brave decision to launch the site amid concern about the information being made public in such away.”
