Day of action for police

Police joined forces with other agencies to hold a day of action.

Officers from the Upper Valley neighbourhood policing team joined representatives from Calderdale Council, the Benefits Fraud Team, Immigration, Stolen Plant and Machinery Specialists, Court fines Warrant Officers, Roads Policing, DVLA, VOSA, Council Taxi Licensing, Customs and Excise and the Council Tax department in the Todmorden and Ripponden areas.

Over the day several people with outstanding fines warrants were located, three illegal immigrants were arrested with one being immediately deported back to their country of origin, and multiple vehicles clamped for no tax.

One person had to pay £280 on the spot to have his vehicle released, there were vehicles seized for no insurance and more than 51 vehicles tested for red diesel.

Several vehicles seen and given fixed penalties from VOSA for a variety of defects including defects with brakes, lights, trailers and tyres. The local team also issued several tickets for offences such as drivers using their mobile phones, defective tyres, failing to wear seatbelts and defective vehicle parts!
