Distinctive car taken in Bradford robbery
Police have released a picture of a distinctive car which was stolen in a robbery in Bradford.
The Volkswagen Golf R32 was taken from a 31-year-old woman as she parked in Cleckheaton Road, Bradford, at just after 7pm on Monday.
The woman was approached by a man who got out of a silver vehicle and asked calmly for the keys. He was believed to be holding a gun.
A 38-year-old man from Bradford is currently in custody after being arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.
Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg, of Bradford District CID, said: “The vehicle stolen is quite distinctive in colour as it is electric blue. It is also a five-door version of the R32 and we believe these are quite rare.
“It is likely that someone will have seen this car as it drove off from Cleckheaton Road or since then. They may even have been offered it for sale.
“We are also keen to trace the vehicle used by the suspect, which was a silver hatchback-type vehicle with a headlight out.”
The suspect was believed to be Asian, about 5ft 9ins tall and of average build.
He spoke with an English accent and was wearing a grey hooded jumper, which was used to cover his face.
Anyone with information about either vehicle, the suspect, or anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Cleckheaton Road area at around the above time is asked to contact Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
