Elderly woman dies after being hit by a car

An 82-year-old woman died after she was hit by a car near Harrogate town centre.

The woman was hit by the car, a silver Kia Picanto driven by a 40-year-old woman from the Knaresborough area, at the exit of the Odeon Cinema on Station Avenue at around 10am today (March 9).

She sustained serious injuries and died after being taken to Leeds General Infirmary.
