Gang of youths leave victim with injuries after Halifax hammer attack

A man was attacked in Halifax by a gang where one of the youths was carrying a hammer

The incident occurred in New Road at approximately 4pm on Sunday April 18.

Police received reports that a man had been seriously assaulted.

However, when officers attended the victim and suspects had left the area.

The victim was believed to be assaulted by a large group of youths where one of them was believed to be carrying a hammer.

A 43-year-old male, who police now believe was the victim of the assault, was located later.

He sustained minor injuries.

Officers, who have released details of the attack today, are appealing to the public to assist in identifying those responsible for the assault and are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and date above and may recognise the suspects described below or that may have seen any suspicious activity that may assist with enquiries.

One suspect is described as white male, slim build believed to be wearing an all grey Puma tracksuit with a hood up and a facemask on.

The second suspect is described as a mixed-race male, slim-medium build with dark faded hair believed to be wearing an all grey Stone Island tracksuit.

Police believe that the suspects were part of a larger group of teenagers, made up of both male and females in the area at the time.

Following ongoing enquiries, four people have since been arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed pending further enquiries.
