A GIRL who stole herself a breakfast after a night on the town is now facing jail.

Abbie Town, 21, was still tipsy when she slipped a sandwich and drink into her handbag.

But a court heard she already had a suspended sentence hanging over her when she stole the food and drink from the One Stop Shop in King Cross, Halifax.

Calderdale magistrates were told that Town and two men went into the store on December 3.

They had been out the night before and were said to be still in drink when Town put the sandwich and drink, worth £3.34, into her bag.

She was spotted on CCTV and arrested.

At first she told police she couldn’t remember anything. But after seeing the footage, she admitted the offence.

The court heard Town moved to Leeds 18 months ago and was only back in Halifax to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

The bench decided the case should be sent to Bradford Crown Court – where Town’s suspended sentence was originally made earlier this month.

Magistrates said the case should be heard by a judge sitting at a court that had the full range of sentencing powers.

Town, of Meanwood, Leeds, will be sentenced on February 23 at Bradford Crown Court.
