Halifax dad who set fire to his own house 'could have caused the death of his sons'

A Halifax dad has been jailed after setting fire to his own house which 'could have caused the deaths of his two sons'.

He was sentenced to a total of 11 years for arson. He must spend seven years in custody and the remaining on licence.

Detective Inspector Vicky Lawrance of Calderdale CID said: "Zulfiqar’s actions in deliberately starting the fire in the early hours of the morning on New Year’s day could have easily caused the deaths of his two adult sons.

"Luckily no one was seriously hurt but the consequences of his actions could have been much worse."
