Halifax police officers and children come under attack as gang of teenagers use fireworks as missiles

Police are appealing for witnesses as fireworks were used as missiles being launched at homes, people and vehicles.

Last night (November 5) and into the early hours of the morning officers attended a high number of calls relating to anti-social behaviour and firework related incidents.

A large number of these calls were in the Park Ward area of Halifax with large groups of teenagers using lit fireworks as missiles towards members of the public, homes and vehicles.

Small children with their parents were also the target of fireworks.

A number of officers and their vehicles were subject to fireworks and other missiles being thrown at them.

Overnight six vehicles in the area were burnt out and many others damaged

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "We are also aware of a video circulating on social media showing a marked Police vehicle on Parkinson Lane having a lit firework thrown inside causing damage to the interior of the vehicle.

"Enquiries are ongoing in identifying the suspects for a number of incidents.
