Heartless arsonists set fire to a stable in Rishworth with horses still inside.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the arson attack on the stables in Withens End Lane at 7.15am on Thursday, December 18.
The tenant of the site arrived at the stable yard to find a horse box trailer, adjacent to the stable block, destroyed by fire.
The horses were in the stables at the time and were unharmed by the fire, but were left extremely distressed.
The gates to the stable yard were also destroyed.
Calderdale wildlife officer PC Fiona Igo said: “This is a particularly nasty crime, as the horses had no means of escaping from the fire, heat and smoke.
“The horse owner was deeply upset as the consequences could have been far worse.
