Detective Inspector Gary Stephenson, of Calderdale CID, said: “This is a heartless crime, just before Christmas and these presents were for young children. Their parents will find it very difficult to replace them.

“The incident happened on a busy road close to the Morrison’s supermarket and I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in contact.

“Likewise I am appealing directly to the person or persons involved in this crime to search their conscience - the presents they took are for young children for Christmas Day.

“Or if you are offered any of the items for sale in a deal that sounds ‘too good to be true’ then please get in contact.”

Anyone with information should call Calderdale CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555111.
