Huge demo in Halifax on Friday against U.S. film

Around 700 Muslims are expected to march in Halifax tomorrow in protest against the controversial U.S. film “The Innocence of Islam.”

They plan to gather at Albert Street, near the Madni Mosque, at 2.30 pm to walk up Hanson Lane and onto the Queen’s Road Neighbourhood Centre car park where speakers are expected to include Calderdale Council deputy leader Coun Janet Battye.

The event has been organised by Madni and Rhodes Street mosques and a petition calls for respect for all religions backed by law.

Police and the council have liaised with organisers and there will be a visible police presence to assist in managing the demo safely.
