A 'beautiful' peregrine falcon was shot dead in Brighouse town centre on Saturday.

PC C J Newsome - Wildlife Crime Officer - said she was 'saddened to report' the horrific crime, which is believed to have taken place on Saturday.

The bird was found in Brighouse town centre on Saturday, PC Newsome said.

An X-Ray confirmed the bird had been shot dead.

Police have now launched an investigation.
