Officers from the Calderdale Valleys Neighbourhood Policing Team attended Shibden Park , Halifax, and Judy Woods near Norwood Green after complaints from residents about cars parking adjacent to double solid white lines.

The NPT said cars left in this position cause other vehicles to drive into the other side of the carriageway making it dangerous for other road users.

A spokesperson said: "Double solid white lines in a road are there to prevent overtaking where it is deemed dangerous. This is often the case on blind bends or on crests of hills.

"Rule 240 of the highway code states ‘a road marked with double white lines, even when a broken white line is on your side of the road, except to pick up or set down passengers, or to load or unload goods.’

"In total over more than 15 vehicles were issued with fixed penalty notices.

Many other drivers who were with their vehicles at the time were given words of advice regarding the dangers of leaving their vehicle in such a position.
