Latest fine figures for drivers caught speeding on Elland bypass

West Yorkshire Police have released the latest driving fine figures caught speeding on the A629 Calderdale Way.

Statistics show a drop in cases during February 2019 to February 2018 - compared to the previous year - and the year before that, where drivers paid a fixed penalty fine and had their driving licence endorsed with 3 points.

Out of the whole of 2019, 73 drivers were given a fixed penalty fine, while in 2018 there was a total of 91 overall, with 122 drivers being fined during 2017.

For 2020 there has already been 13 confirmed cases of drivers paying a fixed penalty fine, however, 49 cases remain ongoing.

From February onward this year, there has been a total of two cases cancelled while the whole of 2019 saw 66 cases thrown out, with a staggering 227 cases cancelled in 2018, and even more cancelled throughout 2017 - a total of 301.

In 2019, the number of cases that went to court was four, while 2018 resulted with 98 court cases with 2017 seeing 132 cases of drivers being put in the dock.

Also recorded was the amount of retraining course which were attended and completed, including drivers attending a Speed Awareness course.

In 2019, there were 82 recorded Speed Awareness courses due to speeding on the A629 Calderdale Way.

In 2018 there were 143 recorded Speed Awareness courses, with a total of 203 courses in 2017.

There were no statistics for speed awareness courses for 2020.
