A 60-year-old man was hit over the head with a hammer during a burglary attempt in Greetland
Police have issued an e-fit image of a man they want to talk to in connection with the shocking attack which took place at a property on Bradley Court around 3.40pm on Sunday ((June 21).
Three men knocked on the door of a house on Bradley Court, and hit the victim over the head with an object, believed to be a hammer, before driving off towards Elland in what is thought to be a blue Ford Focus.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment but is now back home recovering.
Police have issued a witness appeal and say the attack follows a number of reports throughout the day that several men were seen acting suspiciously in residential areas in Greetland and Barkisland where high value vehicles were parked on the driveway.
The suspects were seen driving two cars, a blue Ford Focus, and grey Volkswagen Golf.
Detective Sergeant Ross Wadsworth of Calderdale CID said: “The victim is now recovering at home, following hospital treatment, although he is understandably shaken following the incident.
“We have a number of witnesses who have made reports of seeing a group of males acting suspiciously around other properties where high-value vehicles were parked.
“As it was the early afternoon, I am certain, there will be further people who may have seen the suspects, or the vehicles they were driving and may hold vital information. I would urge them to come forward.”
Anyone who has information is asked to contact Det Serg Ross Wadsworth at Calderdale CID via 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
