Two people arrested on suspicion of assault after an alleged “road rage” attack in Halifax on Wednesday have been released on bail.

The 30-year-old man and 48-year-old woman were arrested following the alleged assault on Godley Lane, close to Shibden Park, at around 3.15pm.

A man was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries, but his condition was not critical.

The alleged assault is believed to have followed an earlier crash.

Detective Inspector Chris Wood, of Halifax CID, said “Incidents of this nature are thankfully rare. We would like to reassure members of the local community that this was an isolated incident.

“I would like to thank those members of the public who intervened.

“Although a number of people have come forward to assist police I would encourage anyone who saw the incident but who haven’t contacted the police to do so.”

The incident caused significant traffic disruption as police recovered the two vehicles involved.
