Man attacked and robbed by gang with golf clubs in Dewsbury

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was robbed by a gang with golf clubs in Dewsbury.

The incident happened at 9.30pm on Friday, April 18, as the victim, aged in his mid 20s, was in Crow Nest Park with friends.

He was approached by a group of males carrying golf clubs. One of the group then demanded money and the victim was hit in the face by another member of the group. He fell to the floor as a result of being hit.

He then ran off but was followed by the group who grabbed him and took money from his pockets as well as his mobile phone which was on the floor. This happened at one of the side entrances (in the middle of the park)

At the time of the incident a man was parked up nearby in a white coloured car. The male got out of the car but was told to get back inside the vehicle.

The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident.

DC Mark Willetts from Huddersfield CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident to get in contact and the man in the white car in particular as he may be able to provide vital information about what happened.”
