A 38-year-old man was fined and ordered to pay costs after pleading guilty to drunk and disorderly behaviour.

Calderdale Magistrates Court heard how Daniel Brearley of Frances Street, Elland, had been taken by ambulance to Calderdale Royal Infirmary after losing consciousness following an assault.

When Brearley awoke in the hospital he became distressed and was aggressive and abusive to staff.

His speech was slurred and it was clear that he was drunk.

Brearley offered his apologies to the court and was ordered to pay at £50 fine, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
