A 35-year-old was given a fine at Calderdale Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to the possession of a class A drug. Police found a wrap of heroin when Daniel Allchin of Fall Spring Gardens, Stainland, was stopped and searched by police on King Cross Road, Halifax, on November 1 last year.

Allchin, who has a previous conviction on his record from 2012 for the production of a class B drug, admitted the charges when interviewed by police. Allchin said he was ashamed of his offending.

He was ordered to pay a £70 fine, £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
