The suspect is described as a tall white male, in his late 20s or early 30s with long scruffy hair. He was wearing dark clothing.

Detective Constable Lee Mason, from Calderdale CID, said: “There were a lot of people around at the time of this unprovoked and nasty assault and we’d like them to get in touch with us.

“Firstly we’d like to speak to anyone who was drinking outside the Old Post Office public house around this time, and to two men in particular.

“One of these men, believed to be in his 30s, had short dark hair, and was wearing dark trousers and a blue shirt. He was seen walking on the other side of the road to the couple through the Woolshops Shopping Centre.

“Anyone else who may know who the offender is can also contact me on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
