A gang of masked men stole £90,000 worth of jewellery from a store in Huddersfield.

The break-in happened at Shingar Jewellers on Bradford Road when three or four men wearing dark clothing forced their way in and stole the jewellery from display cabinets, a safe and a back office.

The owner of the shop ran upstairs and barricaded himself in a flat above when the raiders broke in.

The thieves escaped in a Toyota Hilux and a Mitsubishi Shogun that had been parked on Cobcroft Road.

The vehicles were later found abandoned on a track off Abbey Road in Fartown.

Anyone with information about the break-in, at 4.40pm on January 22, should call Huddersfield CID via 101.
