Police are appealing for witnesses to a brawl on a train through Huddersfield.

A gang of four were left covered in blood after fighting on the 8.27pm Manchester Victoria to Huddersfield service between Marsden and Slaithwaite.

PC Gavin Lawrence, from British Transport Police, said: “Four men are alleged to have been fighting on board the train as it left Marsden. The conductor of the service attempted to hold the doors closed at Slaithwaite station while the police were called, but the group forced open the door and fled.

“The men have all been described as in their early 20s, and were covered in blood when they left the train. We believe two of the group may have been brothers and were attempting to get to Huddersfield.”

PC Lawrence believes that anyone travelling on the service at the time could have information to help their investigation.

“The train was very busy at the time and this must have been a very intimidating experience for others who were on the service,” he said.

“If you saw something or have any information that could help, please come forward and speak to us.”

The brawl happened at around 9pm on Saturday, February 16.
