Motorcycle and moped thefts on the rise in Calderdale

Calderdale Police officers are warning owners of motorcycles, scooters and mopeds to be vigilant after a high increase in the number of thefts.

The incidents have happened over the last six months and the force is issuing advice to make sure vehicles are secured properly.

A spokesperson for the force said: “If you have a motorbike please use approved crime prevention devices to secure your bike.

“Check out “Sold Secure” website which is a police approved site. Sold secure security test products and give them a bronze, silver, gold and diamond rating.

“The website also tells you what each product is resistant to attack against.

“Have a look at chains, padlocks and ground anchors to secure your bike. Consider having a tracker fitted or even use DNA marking. Please share with anyone that owns a motorbike.”
