Operation Helvegill targets dangerous drivers in Calderdale

A police operation set up by Calderdale police officers is already having positive results in comminties.

Operation Helvegill has been set up Calderdale Police to target the fatal four traffic offences in the Sowerby Bridge and Ryburn Wards.

On February 21 in New Road, Sowerby, a driver was reported for driving with no insurance.

The next day officers were on patrol and a driver was reported for having no MOT.

Speed checks were also conducted on Holmes Road, Sowerby Bridge. Four tickets were issued to drivers exceeding the 20mph limit.

The highest speed recorded on the day was 38mph.

West Yorkshire Police are continuing to clamp down on the fatal four offences.

These are the main the four factors that contribute to a road traffic collision or serious injury.
