Police appeal for witnesses to taxi rank attack on Halifax man

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a man as he waited for a taxi at a Halifax rank, at around 11.30pm last Sunday.

A 28-year-old Halifax man, who was approached from behind, was knocked to the floor after being punched in the face.

The victim then got a taxi home. But after going home the seriousness of his injuries became apparent. He suffered a broken jaw and has had to undergo plastic surgery treatment.

Detective Inspector John Priestley from Halifax CID said: “We have been unable to ascertain the exact location of the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward so CCTV in the area can be examined.

“It is vital we trace those responsible for this incident and I would ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious that may tie in with this assault comes forward and speak to us.”
