Police investigating attempted child abduction report near Calderdale school

West Yorkshire police received reports of an attempted child abduction in Backhold Lane.

The incident happened around 8.35am on Wednesday December 9.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire police said: "Initial reports suggested this to be an attempt child abduction. Extensive enquiries have been conducted and we now believe this not to be the case.

"It our understanding that no threats were made towards the boy and there was no physical contact or attempt made to follow him.

"Enquiries are continuing into the circumstances of this incident, which happened at about 8.35am in Backhold Lane.

"Officers responded swiftly to the report as any report suggesting a child is in danger is treated extremely seriously. Neighbourhood officers will be providing reassurance in the area over coming days.
