Police operation targets anti-social drivers in Halifax district

Officers from Halifax Neighbourhood Policing team assisted by their colleagues in the Special Constabulary conducted Operation Highdon in response to numerous reports of anti-social driving and those committing moving traffic offences in the PARK WARD area.

Officers conducted speed checks on Gibbet Street, Warley Road, Spring Hall Lane and Highroad Well Lane as well as focusing on the Fatal 4.

These are namely the four factors that contribute to a road traffic collision or serious injury. These are speeding, drink drive, mobile phone use and driving without a seat belt.

These are the results of the operation.

10 tickets issued for speeding, the highest speed recorded was 58mph on Gibbet Street

Two Seizures for No Insurance

One S59 Warning for anti-social driving

One ticket for driving without due care and attention

29 tickets for not wearing a seatbelt

Seven tickets due to registration plates not conforming to regulations

In addition to this;

One male arrested and charged to Court for drug driving

One male arrested and charged to Court for Public Order offences and resist arrest

One male arrested and charged to Court for failing to provide details after committing a traffic offence and resist arrest

Park Ward Officer PC 1969 Clough said “We will continue to act on residents’ concerns regarding those who flaunt the law and feel it acceptable to drive at a standard that falls far below that of a careful and competent driver.

"We received a lot of positive feedback from residents who we spoke to, be rest assured we will continue to show a strong presence in the area and will continue to target those who think it’s acceptable to engage in criminality of all kinds.

"We have had some good results in recent weeks with a number of Drugs Warrants being executed with thousands of pounds of Class A drugs being taken off the street as well as targeting those that are using the roads as a race track. We thank the continued support of the residents who assist us in identifying areas of concern.”
