Police warning after spate of thefts from cars

Police are advising residents to make sure they take valuable items out of their car after a spate of thefts.

Officers said there have been a string of incidents in the Northowram and Shelf area over the past couple of weeks.

Ward officer PC Andy Bingham said: “In the last two weeks there have been four thefts from motor vehicle offences in the Shelf area of Halifax.

“Unfortunately on every occasion the offenders stole items from cars which had being left unlocked.

“Officers are working hard to reduce vehicle crime in the Bradford Border’s area but we need the assistance of the public to stop making it easy for them.

“Please can residents ensure they lock their vehicles up and double check because it could be the difference between four victims of crime and no victims of crime.”
