Police have issued a witness appeal after a woman was robbed in Wyke.

The incident happened between 1.20am and 1.40am on Sunday, March 1, when two 19-year-old women were walking in Wyke Recreation Ground.

A man grabbed one of their handbags from behind, snapping the strap, before he off towards the Town Gate entrance.

Neither woman was hurt, but the victim needed medical assistance for breathing difficulties after the women gave chase.

The bag contained a number of personal items and a Sony Xperia mobile phone.

The suspect is described as white, in his twenties, about six feet tall and of slim build. He was clean shaven with dark hair and was wearing a dark hooded top, dark tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

Detective Inspector Alan Flynn, of Bradford District CID, said: “This man may be local and it is possible he may have followed the women into the park.

“I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Town Gate area at around this time, or who thinks they may recognise the man from his description, to contact DC 1926 McFarlane at Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
