Police are appealing for information after five rare breed hens were stolen from Temple Newsam Farm in Leeds.

Five hens were stolen in total - four large black Transylvanian naked neck hens and one Wheaten Marsh Daisy Hen.

Police believe the hens were stolen to order as a number of other breeds were left behind.

The latest theft follows a similar incident earlier this year when 10 Indian Runner ducks were stolen from the farm on February 2.

Officers are investigating possible links between the two incidents and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The theft was discovered on Friday morning and is believed to have taken place overnight from 6pm on Thursday.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact PC David Lund at the Crossgates, Whinmoor and Temple Newsam neighbourhood policing team via 101.
