Rastrick man denies killing his mother

A 52-year-old Rastrick man denied killing his mother when he appeared before a court in Lincoln this morning.

Nigel Constable pleaded not guilty to the murder of his 79-year-old mother Betty at her home at Dunholme, near Lincoln, in September last year.

Wearing a blue jumper and yellow T-shirt, Constable spoke only once to deny the charge during a 25-minute plea and case management hearing at Lincoln Crown court.

Constable, of Sherburn Road, Rastrick, West Yorkshire, was remanded in custody by Judge Michael Heath to appear for a trial starting on Monday, March 24.

Widow Mrs Constable, of Merleswen, Dunholme, was taken to hospital from her bungalow on Sunday, September 22 last year.

She died on Tuesday, September 24.
