Speeding driver caught travelling double the legal limit in Halifax

A driver in Calderdale was caught speeding at more than double the legal limit on a street in Halifax.

Speed checks were carried out on March 6 in the North and East Halifax area by officers from the halifax Neighbourhood Policing Team S

The fastest driver was recorded on Cousin Lane travelling at 42 in the 20 mph restriction.

On March 3 speed checks were conducted on Long Lane, Halifax when a vehicle was recorded at 47 mph in the 30 mph restriction.

A spokesperson for the Neighbourhood Policing team said: "The driver was reported for his speed and will receive points and a fine.

"The drivers excuse was that no other vehicles were in front of him – please note, speed limits are to be adhered to regardless of what other vehicles are on the road."
