Sweet thief detained in custody

A man who stole £3 worth of confectionery was remanded in custody.

Nicholas Johannesson, 24, of Elmwood Street, Boothtown, Halifax, pleaded guilty to stealing £3 worth of sweets from Poundland, Halifax, on August 22.

Johannesson, who was on bail at the time of the offence, was taken into custody on August 31 after failing to meet bail conditions.

Appearing at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court on September 10, via video link, the sweet thief was sentenced to five days in custody.
